Welcome to the updated West Norfolk School Sport Partnership website. The purpose of the website is to provide up to date information to school staff, parents and young people about our work within the partnership and with the arrival of the new School Games initiative there has been alot of change within the Partnership this year.
The School Games aims to be much more than competitive school sport - our aspiration is to support all young people to achieve their personal best in sport and in life. With London 2012 fast approaching now is the time to harness the unique power and energy of the world's greatest sporting event to motivate all young people.
The School Games is a key Government priority for realising a meaningful sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is supported by three Government Departments - Department for Education, Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and the Department of Health - with funding from Sport England, through the National Lottery. The School Games underlines this Government's commitment to providing a new approach to competitive school sport designed to motivate and enthuse all young people.
In West Norfolk we have a structure which can build on the previous successes in 3 main ways. Firstly, the SGO role, based at King Edward VII School, will provide the pathway through the 3 main levels of the School Games, from Intra Competition - Inter Competition and then onto a County Competition or Level 3 of the School Games. Secondly, by ensuring the profile of PE and School Sport is at the forefront of all we do, thus allowing the Partnership to access new funding streams to provide additional opportunities for all the children and youing people in West Norfolk and thirdly to continue to provide a high quality service through the Primary Manager and SSCo roles for all those schools who have contributed to the programme
The School Games brings to life the sporting spirit values thus allowing schools to maximise the impact of all competition as a stimulus for personal best, raised aspirations and opportunities for those aspirations to become reality.
To support these opportunities, National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) have been asked to create innovative new formats which lend themselves to intra and inter school competition, and encourage participation by all young people, including those with disabilities.
