Competitive school sport is an excellent way to challenge
young people to develop their physical skills as well as a number of important life skills.

The SSP provides a range of competitive opportunities for pupils aged 5-16 years old in a wide variety of different sports.

School Games

The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. The Games are designed to enable every school and child to participate in competitive sport, including meaningful opportunities for disabled youngsters.

Schools and pupils are able to participate and progress through three levels of competition;

– Level 1 – Intra School Competition

– Level 2 – Inter School Competition

– Level 3 – County Festivals

There will also be an annual School Games Championships launching in 2017.

Within Norfolk the Games is delivered by the eight School Sports Partnerships and Active Norfolk.

Level 1

There are a large selection of resources available to help schools increase the amount and variety of intra school competitions (Level 1) that they provide their pupils.

Level 2

The SSP organises a programme of inter school competitions to help schools give as many different young people as possible the opportunity to represent their school against pupils from other schools.

Level 3

The winning team(s) and pupils from the level 2 competitions are invited to represent the SSP at the Norfolk School Games Finals. Here they will compete against other qualifying pupils from across the County.

Playground to Podium

A big focus of the Games is to be inclusive and enable all young people to have the opportunity to compete and represent their school. The Norfolk School Games includes a series of events targeted specifically at engaging young people with Special Educational Needs or a Disability (SEND). Other SSP Competitions

In addition to the competitions that the SSP offers as part of the School Games we also provide member schools with a number of additional competitions. The aim of these competitions is to build on the School Games programme and provide a wider range of opportunities in order to engage even more pupils.
